We’re re-opening some of our libraries!

Following the Government’s relaxation of some of the Covid-19 restrictions, we are preparing for the safe reopening of library services over the coming weeks.

We are unable to fully open all the services at our libraries safely at the moment, so we are starting with the re-opening of the following six libraries:

  • Armley Community Hub and Library

  • Dewsbury Road Community Hub and Library
  • Reginald Centre Community Hub and Library
  • Headingley Community Hub and Library

Summer Reading Challenge

It’s time for the Summer Reading Challenge and this year we are going digital!

The 2020 Reading Challenge from The Reading Agency will celebrate funny books, happiness and laughter. Children taking part in the challenge will join the Silly Squad, an adventurous team of animals who love to have a laugh and get stuck in to all different kinds of funny books!

Join us online for our Sign Up Saturday!

On Saturday 11 July, we will be having a virtual event for Sign-up Saturday. This opening online event will feature the brilliant local theatre company Tutti Frutti, who are also working with a number of local cultural partners to support our programme over the summer.

During the event, there will be online support available with our librarians for grown-ups registering their children on the website and we will also be launching our fantastic Silly Squad collection of eBooks and eAudio books on Borrowbox.

Watch this short film where Elaine, one of our fab librarians tells us more about the Summer Reading Challenge.

And don’t forget to check out Mark and Sam from CBBC who have created a funny video to launch the Silly Squad on The Reading Agency’s YouTube channel!

Happy summertime reading everyone!
